Class Schedule - Winter 2008-2009

Sunday Morning
(Bible Classes 9:00 am - Worship 10:15 am)

Prayer - Garrett Hollingsworth Conference
Prayer — experiencing God's presence. This class will focus on the inner life. We will study how Christians have approached God throughout history in order to be formed into the image of Christ. We will learn about and practice ancient Christian prayer techniques as well as new ones with the hope of experiencing God's presence. Come and join us as we learn, reflect, and practice prayer.

Caring and Sharing - Ed Hoskins Library
This is primarily a time of caring and sharing. We also review the Elders’ Communication and have a recap of the last week’s sermon.

Acts - Charles Kirklin Room 14
We will continue a verse by verse study of Acts starting with chapter three.

Friendswood Foundations - Danny Mercer/Forrest Norman Room 15
(December 7-January 11) This is the first of many times we will offer this class. Our hope is to offer it for the first four weeks of each quarter. It is designed especially for our newcomers to help them learn more about what we believe, our directions for the future, and how they can be involved. It will also be open to members to allow our newcomers an opportunity to connect with others. The class will be limited to 20 spots. Because of the holidays, this first run will go for six weeks. We will offer it again in March.

Thinking the Faith - Danny Mercer Room 15
(January 18-March 1) The word “Philosophy” means the love of wisdom. We want to be wise in the ways we think about the most important issues of life. In this class we will address questions related to HOW we approach matters of faith like: God, Scripture, Church, Culture, and Ethics.

Jesus’ Teachings - Shirle’ Smith Room 16
This quarter, we will take to heart what Jesus said, "and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I AM with you always, to the very end of the age." You will need a red letter edition of the New Testament.

Wednesday Evening
(Shared Meal 6:00 pm and Worship 7:00 pm)

College Age - Brad Harrell Conference
“Who do you say that I am?” – The mother of all questions. We are engaging a study of the divinity, humanity, and uniqueness of Jesus Christ. The book Vintage Jesus by Mark Driscoll and Gerry Breshears is guiding our study of these scriptural concepts.

Hebrews - Vernelle Hoskins Room 13
The Ladies Class will resume the study of Max Lucado’s book on Hebrews.

Dwelling in the Word - Danny Mercer Room 14
Lectio Divina is the Latin phrase for "Divine Reading." It is the traditional Christian practice of selecting a text of Scripture, reading, meditating, and reflecting on that text. It is a way of studying, listening to, and praying the Word. It also develops habits of listening--to God and each other.
